《猛火煽り/Overblaze》《活力の波動/Vital Surge》《樹海の咆哮/Roar of Jukai》の３枚をまとめます。あまり語ることが無いためです。
やや面白いのは、３日連続でアートについて記事で言及しているところでしょうか。
それぞれ、「神の鉤爪に高熱を与える呪文が唱えられており、侍が必死に自身を守ろうとしている様子」「３体の森の神達は、活力を引き出す呪文に満たされている」「右下の方に、森の神が村を襲っているという凶報を受けた二人の村人がいる」とのことです。

《御霊の復讐/Goryo’s Vengeance》の「御霊」とは、非業の死や夭折した者の霊であり、復讐心に燃えた神である、とのことです。

改めて「御霊」の意味を調べて見たところ、色々見つかりました。

Wikipediaやgoo辞書だと、非業の死や復讐などの要素はあまりなさそうだったので、MTGの神河ではそういう用語だとしているものなのかとも思いました。
一方、コトバンクではそのような意味で使うと記述されていました。
となると、別に間違いという訳でもないようです。
間違った日本観で作られたようなカードもある（※１）ので、偶然なのか、きちんと調べた上でのことなのかまでは断定できませんが。

《笑む猫、憲太郎/Kentaro, the Smiling Cat》の「猫」は渾名であり、実際に猫という訳ではなく、人間です。《獅子将マギータ/Mageta the Lion》も「獅子」とありますが、人間であるのと同じです。「笑む猫」と呼ばれるのは、別に楽しみから笑っているわけでもないのに、その顔に微笑を絶やさないことから来ています。その様子は、サイドストーリー(※１)にも描写されています。

悪忌達が崇めている《悪忌の守護神/Patron of the Akki》ですが、悪忌達に対する特別扱いというのは殆ど無く、その要求に応える前に多大な生け贄を要求する、とのことです。
「守護神」という割には、という印象がありますが、神が生贄を要求するというのは物語の定型です。
メカニズム上も守護対象であるはずのゴブリンを生け贄に捧げる「献身」ですし、アートでも右側に神への供物と思しきゴブリンがいます。
また、ストーリー記事（※１）では、願い事をした悪忌を丸呑みしてしまいました（※２）。
そう考えると、よくできたデザインとも言えるのでしょう。

日替わりで1枚のカードを取り上げるコラム「CARD OF THE DAY」の2005年4月分を見ていきます。

《鬼の下僕、墨目/Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni》（画像１）の目からこぼれる墨は赤い霧状となり、彼女が崇める鬼の力を体現している、とのことです。以前取り上げた記事（※１）にある通り、鬼とその信奉者であるオーガは、血の儀式によって繋がっています。彼女はオーガではありませんが、鬼の信奉者ということで、やはり血によって繋がっているのでしょう。

当時のプレリリース・カードは別イラスト（画像２）ですが、この赤い霧がきちんと表現されています。一方で『Secret Lair Drop Series: Year of the Rat』の新イラスト（画像３）ではそれが表現されていません。もっとも、白黒の墨画風であるため、仕方のないことでしょう。これはこれで趣のあるイラストには違いありません。

"’Myojin’ literally means ’bright divinity.’ It’s a Shinto word that denotes a kami of particular importance. In Champions of Kamigawa, the myojin are special because they are the kami of the five colors of Magic. For example, the Myojin of Night’s Reach is black mana, and all black-aligned kami are aspects of her."

WotCに送られた質問に答える記事"ASK WIZARDS"の2005年4月分です。

この中から取り上げるのは、「明神とは何か？他のスピリットとは何が違うのか？」という質問です。

回答は以下の通りです。
明神は文字通り「明るい神性」を意味しており、神道で特別重要な神を表しています。
『神河物語』、神河次元においては、マジックの５色を司る神という立場です。
例えば、《夜陰明神/Myojin of Night’s Reach》は黒の神であり、その他全ての黒色のスピリットは彼女の側面と言えます。

このように、他のスピリットと比べても別格の存在と言及されています。
神河のスピリットは精霊のようなもので、他次元における「神」とは異なりますが、明神に関しては、他次元における「神」と同列であると考えて良いでしょう。


補足：
今回取り上げなかった質問で、神河に関係するものをここにまとめます。
《英雄の死/Hero’s Demise》のアートに描かれているのは、《金之尾師範/Sensei Golden-Tail》ではない。そもそも、特定のキャラクターが実際に死んでいる様子ではない。
その他、《鬼の下僕、墨目/Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni》のイラストレーターがプレリリース版で異なることや、《根絶やし/Uproot》などのフレイバー・テキストで一部がイタリック体でなくローマン体であるのは強調のためであることなどが話題に出ています。ただ、カードこそ神河ですが、一般的な話でしょう。

2022年以降に発売する新商品の情報が公開され、そこで、ついに神河の新エキスパンション『神河：輝ける世界』が発表されました。（公式記事ではないので日記には書きませんでしたが）神河に再訪するという情報は何度か目にしていたので、「まさか」というよりは「ついに来たか」という印象です。

以前は、神河＋漢字二文字で統一されていたので、その規則から外れたのはやや残念ではありますが、最近の『次元名：サブタイトル』というパターンに従った形なので納得はできます。

The fragility of an ice bridge accounts for the flavor of its one-time use, similar to the way Weatherlight’s Gemstone Mine captures the flavor of a mine running dry of precious stones. But what accounts for the Ice Bridge’s five-color mana capabilities? The answer is in Rob Alexander’s art:

《氷の橋、天戸/Tendo Ice Bridge》のデザインの解説です。

氷の橋であるために１度渡ると壊れてしまうこと、氷に光が当たることで虹色に輝くことを、「１度だけ好きな色を生み出せる」で表しています。５色土地として、ここまでうまくフレイバーを表したデザインというのは多くないでしょう。

シールドのカードプールから、どのようなデッキを作るか？という考察記事です。

カードプールが弱いのですが、こういう時こそ、考察のやりがいがあるというか、技術が問われると思います。記事では、青白のコントロールに寄せていました。

The cycle of "Lobotomy" cards -- Scour, Quash, Eradicate, Sowing Salt, and Splinter -- originally printed in Urza’s Destiny were, as you know, reprinted in Betrayers of Kamigawa. They are old cards made new in today’s metagame. Since they remove their targets from the game rather than just destroying them, they are effective against modern forms of recursion like Rootrunner, Eternal Witness and Auriok Salvagers. And since they remove all copies of their target, they can shut down entire deck strategies, such as winning with Kokusho, Goblin Charbelcher or the mana from Cloudpost.

They are also made fresh with amazing, abstract, Kamigawa-appropriate art. Check out some high-res art from these cool reprints along with their art descriptions. Note how the art descriptions are similar, yet each artist took the piece in a creative, new direction.

No Rest for the Wicked’s Caretaker
Q: What would happen if I have Shirei, Shizo’s Caretaker and a Bile Urchin in play and I play Night of Souls’ Betrayal? Will I ever have the chance to sacrifice the Urchin? --Adam

A: You’ll be able to sacrifice the Urchin in response to the NoSB spell, but once it resolves the Urchin will be a 0/0 and get put into the graveyard as a state-based effect. At the end of the turn, Shirei will return the Urchin only to see it die right away (as a 0/0).
You won’t have time to sacrifice the returned Urchin, and at the end of the next turn Shirei (assuming he’s still around) will return the Urchin again (and watch it die. Again.).

記事のタイトル通り、忍者、源獣、《死蔵の世話人、死零/Shirei, Shizo’s Caretaker》の３つが大きく取り上げられています。死零だけ個別のカードなので、特別感があります。色々やってみたくなるカードでもあるからこそ、あれやこれやができるのか、気になるということでもあるでしょう。

Each of the Honden from Champions of Kamigawa is a shrine dedicated to the worship of a powerful, godlike kami. The name of each Honden corresponds to the name of a legendary spirit -- Myojin -- in the set.

But there are correspondences in the art as well. Compare Kev Walker’s art of the Myojin to the Honden below. Note how the shrines are mostly ruined; that’s an indication of the abandonment the shrines faced during the Kami War, when the spirit and mortal worlds turned on one another.

I’m going to keep my game logs brief, but I want you to get a sense for a) what cards are winning me games, b) what cards are ineffectual, c) what sort of decks I’m facing (and thus need to prepare for), d) whether I’m winning/losing by a big or small margin, and e) why I’m winning/losing my games. 『神河謀叛』の構築済みデッキ「忍びの術/Ninjutsu」を、改良する記事です。フォーマットはスタンダードです。

『神河謀叛』の構築済みデッキと言えば、《梅澤の十手/Umezawa’s Jitte》が入った「鼠の巣穴/Rat’s Nest」が人気でしたが、やはり忍者が人気ということでしょうか。あるいは、十手が強すぎて改良する面白みにかけるためかもしれません。

ともあれ、単に改良案を示すだけではなく、カードを入れ替えて戦わせて、少しずつデッキを改良していく様子はみていて面白いものです。構築済みデッキのあり方も、今と比べて色々変わった、というのも面白いところですが。

改良の結果は、クロックパーミッション要素をよりブラッシュアップした形と言えるでしょうか。

Q: My friend has Hokori in play and he just used his Cloudcrest Lake for white mana, will he be able to untap the Cloudcrest Lake in his next turn? --Joe

A: Yes, Hokori makes lands not untap during the untap (when the Lake wouldn’t be able to if tapped for (W) ), but it also lets each player untap a land he or she controls at the beginning of their upkeep. This is any land—sleepy Lake or not.

恒例のQ&A記事です。

《頂雲の湖/Cloudcrest Lake》のようなお休みランドは、通常、色マナを出すと次のターンアンタップしません。しかし、《塵を飲み込むもの、放粉痢/Hokori, Dust Drinker》でアップキープにアンタップする、というちょっとしたシナジーが成立する、というQ&Aがありました。

同じブロック間で、こうしたシナジー、特に欠点を補うようなものがあるのは個人的に好みです。

Welcome to my final appearance as the Building on a Budget columnist. Yes, it saddens me to leave like this, but fear not… a column named “Building on a Budget” will return next week with a new author at the helm.

I want to take a moment to thank all of my fans and loyal readers. You guys have consistently made this column one of the most popular on the site, and for that I am grateful. I am glad to have been able to help the budget-minded player out. At one point I might have believed in the myth of needing money in order to compete, but looking back at the near 100 deck lists that I have written about in this column over the course of two years, the evidence clearly states otherwise.

I will not be hanging up my pen (keyboard?) permanently, however. Every so often I plan to write a feature for magicthegathering.com, or you might perhaps find me doing some coverage. You just don’t write about Magic for over half a decade and then go out cold turkey!

安価デッキの記事です。

やはりというべきか、人気の忍者デッキが組まれました。シンプルに忍者部族カードである《手裏剣/Shuriken》や《静風の日暮/Higure, the Still Wind》の他、忍者のメカニズムと相性のいい、ETB能力持ちや、回避能力付与が投入されています。ETBもちであり、部族カードの《手裏剣》をサーチできる《粗石の魔道士/Trinket Mage》はピッタリとハマる、いいカードといえるでしょう。
