"Toshi is short for Toshiro, Daniel. We wanted to use the full name on the card even though the novels use the shortened version."

小説では「俊/Toshi」と呼ばれているのに、カード名が《梅澤俊郎/Toshiro Umezawa》なのはなぜなのか？という質問です。
単純に省略形（あだ名）で呼ばれている、というのが回答です。実際、小説などの会話において一々フルネームで呼ぶ方が不自然でしょう。
ゲームにおいてもあだ名で呼ばれることは珍しくありません。ただ、《梅澤俊郎/Toshiro Umezawa》よりも《梅澤の十手/Umezawa’s Jitte》がそう呼ばれているようですが……。
