Betrayers’ creepy Shirei, Shizo’s Caretaker is a death kami with a mission. Shirei tends the bloody battlefield of Shizo, depicted on Champions of Kamigawa’s Shizo, Death’s Storehouse.
According to its art description from the Creative Team, Shirei has the ability to "deny death to the dead," which links up to the card’s reanimation mechanic. In this blowup of Wayne Reynolds’ art, below, you can see some of the poor souls that might have died at the battle of Shizo, Death’s Storehouse.

『神河謀叛』の《死蔵の世話人、死零/Shirei, Shizo’s Caretaker》を解説した記事です。
死蔵は、『神河物語』の《死の溜まる地、死蔵/Shizo, Death’s Storehouse》であり、名前の通り、死体が積み上がってできました。
数世紀前、死蔵は野の花が咲き乱れる場所だった。しかしその草の上での一度の戦で八百九十一人の侍が死んだ後、その地は呪われた原野と化した。

死零は、カード名通り、死蔵の世話人（人ではないですが）です。死神（death kami）とのことですが、一般的な「生者に死を与える」のではなく、「死者に死を与えない（deny death to the dead）」というのが役割となっており、カードのリアニメイト能力と見事に合致しています。死神といっても、死を司る神、死者の神という意味なのでしょう。
